The mayor of Ellesmere Port was at the official opening of a new store in Ellesmere Port.

The new B&M, with its own garden centre, opened at the former B&Q site on Station Road creating 52 new jobs for local people.

Community fundraiser for Claire House Rhyanna Morris was at the opening to receive a donation of £250 in store vouchers from store manager Toni England.

The town’s original B&M store, on Marina Walk, closed on Saturday, May 7, with all 23 staff transferring to the new store.

B&M is one of the UK’s fastest growing retailers in the UK and stores have recently opened on Sealand Road in Chester and in Bromorough, bringing the total number of jobs created by the company in the area to more than 200 in the last year.

The new Ellesmere Port store includes a variety of branded and own label products including toys, food & drink, pet products, health & beauty and electricals.

The store also boasts an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range, homeware collections and a large garden centre.

Toni England, B&M Ellesmere Port store manager, said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are delighted with the much larger store.

“With more space we have brought in a large DIY and decorating collection, lots of gardening items and an even bigger range of furniture.”

Customers to the store on Saturday will also be in for a treat, with B&M’s brand new game show hoping to ensure the opening weekend will live long in the memory.
