A MOLD business owner is celebrating a year of running two successful shops.
Katy Duplock took over fancy dress store Party Shop, on High Street, and dancewear suppliers Party Shop Too, on Earl Road, on July 4 last year.
Her celebrations coincided with Independents Day, when independent traders in the town offered free gifts and discounts to encourage shoppers to choose them over large chains.
Katy said: “We were giving out lots of sweets and had balloons up to celebrate.”
She added: “The first year has been really good.
“It’s been hard but we have survived it.”
She said the key to success was offering what shoppers wanted.
She said: “It’s about keeping up with trends, getting yourself known and keeping prices as low as you possibly can, because we’re always in competition with the internet.”
She said the Jubilee celebrations had given business a boost, with sales of bunting and royal costumes going up, and the shop was now stocked with Olympic-themed items.
She said: “We’ve already had people come in looking for things for Olympic parties.”
