THE last few years have been tough for businesses across the globe – but here in Cheshire we still have much to celebrate.

The county is the base for many amazing companies which are proving that, even in the toughest of times, they can still drive the local economy forward and provide employment for the county’s workforce.

The Trinity Mirror Cheshire Business Awards celebrate all that is good about local companies – their commitment, innovation and enterprise – and now excitiment is mounting as we wait to find out who will carry off the nine trophies which are up for grabs.

The winners will be announced at a glittering gala presentation evening at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chester on Friday, October 8.

This is the seventh year of the awards and, despite the tough economic climate, we have had a record number of entries.

Now it is time to look forward to the presentation evening which provides the ideal opportunity for networking and making new contacts. It is also the perfect night out with good food, fabulous entertainment and great company.

Host for the presentation evening will be TV news presenter Lucy Meacock.

The former Chronicle journalist is a huge supporter of Cheshire’s businesses.

“We all know Cheshire is a great place to do business. Let’s face it, we couldn’t find a better place to live and work. But however lucky we are, we cannot escape the impact of the global recession. We’re facing a much tougher business climate at the moment – borrowing money is much more difficult and it’s more crucial than ever to find new and loyal customers.

“So while we obviously need to keep an eye on world markets and what’s happening overseas we should never forget the importance of what’s happening on our doorstep. That’s why it’s so important to network locally – and the Cheshire Business Awards are the perfect opportunity to do that,” she said.
