AN INSULATION firm has provided training for finalists of a national competition.

Holywell-based Kingspan Insulated Panels demonstrated the correct procedures for installing insulated roof and wall panels to finalists and its assessors from SkillBuild.

The contest was the largest multi-trade competition for construction trainees and apprentices in Britain and was held in Preston.

With more than 100 finalists taking part, the event was an opportunity to inspire young people to excel in their craft.

Kingspan Insulated Panels was one of the few manufacturers to get actively involved, working with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) to offer guidance to finalists.

The event, organised by ConstructionSkills, covered 10 crafts, from bricklaying to carpentry.

For the roof sheeting and cladding category, finalists were asked to fit a rig with a roof and wall build-up incorporating the Kingspan KS1000 RW Trapezoidal Insulated Roof Panel, KS1000 WV Wave Architectural Wall Panel and the translucent Kingspan Wall-Lite Panel.

Paul Grimshaw, regional sales manager at Kingspan Insulated Panels, said: “The day was a great success.

“We’d like to congratulate all the finalists for their efforts, and in particular the gold medal winner Craig Owens.”

The training provided to the finalists and assessors is a service that is freely available to all contractors who want to work with Kingspan Insulated Panels.

Kingspan is also hoping to offer this course on a more permanent basis to young people working with the NFRC to include it as part of the formal assessment.
