REDROW Homes has been named as one of the finalists of the revered Welsh National Business Awards for its commitment to staff development.

With headquarters in Ewloe, Flintshire, the housebuilder is one of just a handful of Welsh companies in the running for an award in the Training and Developing Staff category.

Redrow hopes its record on training existing staff as well as its commitment to recruiting young people will impress the judges.

Karen Jones, HR director for Redrow Homes, said: “As well as developing the skills of existing staff, our aim is to nurture young talent through apprenticeships, graduate training programmes and other schemes. Not only does this benefit us as a company, it also has industry wide benefits and helps to ensure there are no skills gaps in the future.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a Welsh National Business Award and look forward to the winners being announced.”

Redrow directly employs about 1,000 people, 377 of them in Wales.

The Welsh National Business Awards, run by the Institute of Welsh Affairs and the Western Mail, celebrate the achievements of businesses in Wales. A total of nine awards will be handed out next Friday, November 9, at a ceremony at Cardiff’s City Hall.
