A CAR dealership is helping keep hospice staff on the road with the donation of a vehicle.

M53 Ford, based on Rossmore Road East, Ellesmere Port, has presented Claire House Children’s Hospice with a Ford Mondeo – decked out with the charity’s logo and contact details.

The new set of wheels will be used by workers to attend fundraising visits and events, deliver merchandise and raise awareness of the Wirral-based hospice.

The donation is M53 Ford’s second major show of support for the charity in two years – last year it presented the hospice with a new Ford Focus.

Company director Carol McPhail said: “As a locally based company, we are delighted to be able to offer our support and assistance to such good causes as Claire House Children’s Hospice.”

Claire House cares for babies, children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses and is almost completely reliant on voluntary donations.

Cheshire area fundraising manager Abi Smith said: “We are extremely lucky to have such fantastic supporters as M53 Ford. Without their assistance it would make our fundraising jobs really difficult and without the funding we would not be able to keep the hospice open.”
