A SPECIALIST dairy has triumphed at the national Food & Farming Awards.

Delamere Dairy won the Supply Chain Marketing honour at the awards, held at the House of Commons on December 14.

The awards recognise champions of the UK farming industry who are growing the economy through ideas and innovation.

The company was founded more than 27 years ago by Liz and Roger Sutton in Delamere Forest.

Delamere Dairy’s specialist dairy products made from goats’ milk, soya and cows’ milk, together with its innovative TopLife branded pet treats made from goats’ milk, are sold by retailers nationally and increasingly to export markets.

The judging panel said: “The team at Delamere recognised that the potential of their brand required a change of business model. This led them to taking the brave decision to bring other producers under their brand, leading to significant growth.

“Not resting on their laurels, they continue to make brave decisions into new geographies, new markets and with new products. A highly worthy winner.”

Winner of the overall Farm Business of the Year category in 2011, Delamere Dairy had a busy time in 2012 from a marketing point of view. New product launches included UHT cows’ milk into China and soya desserts and shakes in the UK.

Another highlight was the Great Taste Awards, where its goats’ milk, butter and cheese won gold.
