EUROPE’S biggest trailer maker has been ‘swamped’ with orders for a new product range aimed at the construction industry.

Ifor Williams Trailers, who have a factory on Deeside, spent three years of painstaking development work to improve their tipper trailers which are a favourite with builders, tree surgeons and landscape gardeners among others.

Reaction to the new tippers has been extremely positive, according to the company’s business development manager, Peter Nesbitt.

Key improvements include a lighter but stronger construction, increased payload and a steeper tipping angle

The trailer got an enthusiastic seal of approval from Gareth Jones, the vice-chairman of the Federation of Master Builders in Wales.

Mr Jones, who is also managing director of energy saving specialists Carbon Zero, was speaking after a guided tour of the factory at the headquarters of Ifor Williams Trailers where he saw the new tippers rolling off the production line.

He said: “I don’t think people quite appreciate how much goes into building a trailer here, and the quality control and the rigorous testing. It’s a very impressive operation. The response has been fantastic.”
