THE countdown has begun to the opening of the new Tesco on Sealand Road, as manager Matthew France is given the keys to the store.
Matthew was presented with the front door key from Stuart Young of Barr Construction Ltd.
Matthew 38, started with Tesco six years ago as manager at Rock Ferry Metro and then moved on to manage the Helsby Superstore. He said: “We just can’t wait for the new store to open.”
The new store, which opens on Monday August 11, is directly opposite Aldi where Matthew started his retail career.
A keen golfer and football fan, Matthew says his aim for the store will be to exceed targets and eventually be the best store in the North West.
Matthew added: “I use a simple system to create a store where customers can expect a clean, bright, spacious and above all modern store with a fast and friendly service.”
The 314-car park space store will open at 8am with celebration events and great introductory offers planned for the whole family.
Operating hours of the new store will be Monday to Saturday 8am to 10pm and Sundays from 11am until 5pm.
Meanwhile, even before the new store opens, Matthew is in training for another fund-raiser, as next June he will attempt an ascent of the 22,000ft Mount Kilimanjaro.
He is completing this feat in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care – Tesco’s Charity of the Year – and hopes to raise £3,500.
