DIVERS joined the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire Oaks to put the finishing touches to a new Coral Cave feature.
The divers helped to re-create a coral reef in a major new display which opened at the weekend and is home to thousands of brightly coloured tropical fish species.
Aquarists have taken delivery of a shoal of regal tangs. The neon blue-and-yellow fish is better known as ‘Dory’ after the forgetful fish in Finding Nemo.
Paul Renolds of Blue Planet said: “Eventually it will become a kind of underwater bustling city, with each species occupying its own spot on the reef and establishing its territory.”
Visitors can walk inside a darkened cave and up a gently ramped walkway to a central viewing area overlooking the naturally themed coral reef display.
There are also be viewing areas which allow tantalising glimpses of what’s inside the rock.
