MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Simon Nixon has confirmed details of a £2m national TV advertising campaign for his travel website Simon Seeks.

His Chester-based firm www.simonseeks.com allows consumers to plan and book hotels and restaurants worldwide, assisted by reviews from amateur and professional travel writers.

Simon, the founder of moneysupermarket.com, is completely candid that the venture is currently losing money but points out this is usually the case with fledgling internet ventures.

Launching the TV advertising is a major step on the road to profitability and he expects the firm will “break even” over the next 18 months.

He said: “This is our first advertising campaign and we’re incredibly excited about introducing the site to a whole new set of users. We have been developing our content and functionality since our launch so we can offer a unique combination of expert reviews from some of the most experienced travel writers out there with our community guides.

“It’s about time that there was a credible alternative to user review sites and we feel Simon Seeks offers the consumer just that.”

The campaign will begin on Boxing Day, initially on ITV 1 in the North West, before being rolled out nationally on a multichannel platform next spring. The 30-second advertisement will focus on the site’s destination experts.

“Our ambitions are high as we aim to hit one million unique users per month within 2011,” added Simon, who lives in Chester.

Master-minding the advertising campaign is Space City Productions, which has launched online brands such as Go Compare, Confused.com and Moonpig.
