Chester accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth has appointed business restructuring expert Mike Gregory to head up a new solvent restructuring service for businesses.

Mike’s team will help businesses reduce costs and return value to shareholders by tax efficiently striking off or liquidating solvent companies which have reached the end of their useful life. The Nicholas Street firm will also give advice on streamlining cumbersome group structures and help businesses increase dividends to shareholders by reducing share capital.

With nine years of experience in this field, Mike has worked with businesses of all sizes, from global companies to small businesses. Mitchell Charlesworth partner and head of corporate recovery and insolvency Jeremy Oddie said Mike’s appointment would ensure clients had access to the best advice and assistance available.

Mike has been involved in the accounting profession for more than 17 years, working at PwC and KPMG. It was during his time at KPMG that he developed his specialism in solvent restructuring.

Mike said: “Mitchell Charlesworth recognises how important it is for businesses to get restructuring right. With my experience I will be able to ensure we give businesses the right assistance and help them avoid some of the common pitfalls they face when closing down companies.

“Things do change and all businesses must adapt and revise their operations as they develop. My solvent restructuring team will offer vital support, guiding them through the financial and legal processes during a critical time.”
