SUPERSTEGBANANA is quite an attraction at the award-wining Ness Botanic Gardens in South Wirral.

The statue, designed by Mark Hendry, which has the face of a baby dinosaur, is attracting a lot of interest and now takes pride of place by Ness’ toddlers' play area.

Ness, winner of two ‘large attraction of the year awards 2008’, is one of five Superlambananas in Wirral and more than 100 taking part in the Go Superlambananas initiative as part of the Liverpool European Capital of Culture programme.

Kevin Reid, director of Ness Gardens, said: “The Superstegbanana is creating a great deal of interest and bringing a lot of people to the gardens. It seems many are on a mission to have their photograph taken with them all. Children are particularly taken with ours and have nicknamed it Nessie. We have providing a special Superstegbanana pass so that visitors who want to see Nessie can do so free of charge.”
