Adam Shaw has recently been appointed by Age UK Cheshire as head of Brightlife.

Adam will head up the project, which is the resulting development of the Big Lottery’s Ageing Better Programme – the £5.1m grant that Age UK Cheshire successfully bid for and won in September 2014.

In partnership with older people and a range of local agencies from across the voluntary, public and private sectors, Brightlife will identify, design and implement a wide range of solutions to address isolation and loneliness in older people across Cheshire.

Adam is looking forward to recruiting the rest of the Brightlife team and driving the project forward.

He said: “Brightlife is based firmly on the concept of partnership working, collaboration between organisations, older people, their families, friends and carers.

“My team will focus on the positive role older people play in communities and create and stimulate a social movement to help people over 50 feel less socially isolated across Cheshire West and Chester. Going to work each day knowing we can make a difference to people’s lives is our driving force, we hope that Brightlife can provide some welcome support and happiness and involve as many people as possible in the process.”

Adam previously spent nine years at Cheshire Fire and Rescue, working on business development partnerships and fundraising. One of these partnerships was with Age UK Cheshire on the Springboard initiative – a partnership between the two organisations which focussed on home visits and issues such as home safety, living well and loneliness.

Adam enjoys an active lifestyle out of work, a regular fitness fanatic and lover of the great outdoors. He also has interests in film, photography and loves to travel.

Brightlife will officially launch in April 2015.
