Student success at Blacon High School is being celebrated with a new addition to the school uniform.

The school ‘work hoodie’, which can be worn on a Friday instead of a blazer, has been introduced to reward students who consistently display a positive attitude and behaviour in school.

Each half-term a new group of students are selected who then have the opportunity to wear their hoodie with pride.

A special headteacher’s red hoodie is also presented to the students who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of the school.

Head boy Shaun Shrigley, 15, said, “The hoodies have created a real positive atmosphere around the school, with many students seeing the opportunity to wear one as a motivation to improve their own outcomes”.

Assistant headteacher Dave Sabri added: “The idea for the work hoodie came from a discussion with students about why they should work and what motivated them.

“This led to ideas about rewards and the importance of work, commitment and attendance. As a result we created a vision for success and a new work logo for Blacon High School.”

Head girl Chelsea Hallal, also 15, saud: “People are now desperate to get a hoodie to wear on a Friday. It’s great to have a reward that you feel proud to wear.”
