A man has been rushed to hospital after a car crashed into a house in Blacon.

The collision happened on Blacon Avenue at about 9.30am on Thursday (February 18).

The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.

Emergency services are on the scene and structural engineers are in attendance to assess the damage to the property.

Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Fire and rescue crews are at the scene of a road traffic collision in Blacon, involving a car which has collided with a house.

"Two casualties, a man and a woman are being treated by fire crews and ambulance staff. Blacon Avenue has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident."

Witnesses on the scene said they thought an elderly driver had lost control of his car. There are also unconfirmed reports that another person was injured inside the house.

The service provided an update at 10.15am, which said: "One casualty, a man, has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Structural engineers have been asked to attend as the front of the property is unstable. Firefighters remain at the scene."
