Barrow Horticultural Society Autumn Show, held on September 6, was a great success with more than 300 entries from 35 exhibitors in the 115 classes. The new home-baked bread class proved to be very popular.

The hall was quite full and the judges commented on the excellent standard of the entries. There were many visitors during the afternoon and it was encouraging to see so many younger people enjoying the show and staying on for the auction of produce. Fred Livesey was as usual the auctioneer.

The society’s president Barbara Huddleston presented the prizewinning trophies to show winners.
