Bishops’ Blue Coat CE High School in Chester is celebrating another set of impressive A-level results, with 10% of its students attaining at least three A* or A grades.

More than half of students accessed the top A* - B grades.

Among those celebrating were high-achieving Penny Mitchell, whose three As and one B have earned her a place at the University of Manchester to study psychology, Stuart Berrow, who accomplished one A*, two As and one B and will study natural sciences at Lancaster University, and Georgia Large who has secured a place on the human biology course at Loughborough with her two As and one B.

The Great Boughton school is also celebrating three students who have gained places at Oxbridge.

Catrin Lloyd achieved two A*s and two As and will study natural sciences at the University of Cambridge, while Jess Colston amassed four A*s and one A to secure a place at the University of Oxford to study philosophy, politics and economics.

Former student Charlotte Miles will join Jess at Oxford having been offered an unconditional place to study Medicine following her three A*s and one A last summer.

Charlotte has spent the past year gaining experience in a variety of medical settings while keeping in touch with the school through the application process.

Head of sixth form Jonathan Deakin said: “For us, today is about destinations as much as results.

“The vast majority of our students are heading to their first choice destination beyond our sixth form.

“We have students moving on to degrees, foundation degrees, gap years, apprenticeships, high-status school leaver employment schemes as well as to The Russell Group and Oxbridge.

“We are proud of all our students who have gained the grades they need to access the next step of their education and lives.  “Each student has been valued for the role they played in our sixth form community and we wish them well for the future.”
