You might consider yourself to be a housewife of Cheshire but tonight's first episode of ITVBe's Real Housewives of Cheshire documentary will go behind the scenes of the glamorous lives of footballers’ wives and wealthy women in the 'Golden Triangle' of Alderley Edge, Wilmlsow and Hale.
The programme follows WAGs Leanne Brown (wife of Sunderland defender Wes Brown), Tanya Bardsley (wife of Stoke City player Phil Bardsley), Dawn Ward (wife of ex-footballer Ashley Ward), Magali Gorre (wife of ex-footballer Dean Gorre), 'domestic goddess' Lauren Simon and beauty salon owner Ampika Pickston - you can read all about the girls here.
Meanwhile we’ve had a sneak preview of tonight’s episode, and here’s what you can expect from the opener, on ITVBe tonight at 10pm.
Lots and lots of champagne, in fact. We counted an impressive 40 glassses of fizz in the opening episode, and no occasion seems complete without a glass in hand. Whether it be a daytime meeting, trip to the salon or checking out designer dresses - bring out the fizz. And don’t try and give these ladies Prosecco - they can sniff that inferior sparkly stuff a mile off.
The ladies certainly love their diamonds. Indeed Lauren admits: “My marriage is a game, I have to play the game correctly to get the diamonds”. We see her “playing the game” in the opening episode snapping up £10,000 worth of diamond earrings that she then has to explain to husband Paul. Meanwhile Magali is seen trying on a £1mn diamond ring. Gulp.
MTV Cribs has nothing on this - all the ladies let us inside their enviable mansion houses, with huge Range Rovers and sports cars on the drives.
Dawn’s pad is probably the most impressive - Warford Hall near Alderley Edge - that she designed herself to become the house of her and Ashley’s dreams. It includes 11 bedrooms, glass floors, and her very own beauty salon inside. Interior designer Dawn also created the huge mansion of her pals Leanne and Wes and she’s in-demand across Cheshire for her skills with her property company Bilton Ward.
4. Cosmetic surgery
The Housewives certainly aren’t shy when it comes to talking about their beauty regimes. Tanya is seen saying: “she loves cosmetic surgery” and later tells her mum that as the surgeon won’t correct a bump in her nose she’ll have a boob job instead. Meanwhile, the ladies are seen trying out a new cryogenic (yes freezing your bits) therapy at Ampika’s Opium beauty salon in Hale.
5. Glitzy events
The main focus of the opening episode is Dawn’s fabulous Creme de la Creme ball, held in a huge marquee on her front garden. And events don’t get much glitzier than this one - over 500 guests including the region’s richest business people, footballers and famous faces.
6. Designer fashion
Expect to see designer dresses and heels to die for in the coming weeks - the opening episode also gives us a glimpse inside the showroom of Philip Armstrong, one of the WAG-world’s favourite designers, known for his drop-dead-gorgeous ballgowns. Dawn and Leanne wear his sparkling designs for the Creme Ball in the opening episode.
Handbags at dawn - with Dawn - right from the off. She’s not happy with Magali, who she thinks is trying to 'blag' freebie tickets for her ball. The other housewives chip in too, and there’s a face to face row with Leanne too. Ooh!
These ladies are pals with the rich and famous - and we’ll be sure to see plenty of them along the way. Watch out for a cameo from Corrie’s Kym Marsh and model Danielle Lloyd in the opening episode.
