A strike by French air traffic control workers has affected flights to and from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The airport confirmed departures and four arrivals to and from Palma, Barcelona, Limoge and Belfast International have all been cancelled so far today as a result of the industrial action.

On Sunday (March 20), flights to and from Palma, Madrid and Barcelona were all cancelled and French air traffic control workers are continuing to strike today, and Tuesday.

They are protesting against a cap on recruitment and lack of investment in the systems used by workers.

The strike is affecting flights to France and those travelling through French airspace.

A spokesperson for Liverpool John Lennon Airport said: “Our advice to passengers and anyone meeting flights is to check with their airline for the latest updates."
