Fifteen new jobs have been created with the opening of a new aparthotel in Chester.

Roomzzz Aparthotel Chester City is a £5.5m 64 luxury aparthotel scheme on the site of former HMRC and DVLA centre in Norroy House, on Nuns Road, offering views over Chester Racecourse and easy access into Chester.

Chester is the fourth city development for Roomzzz and the flagship location for the concept ‘New Generation’ offering new interior specifications, apartment sizing and guest interactions across the scheme.

Aparthotels are self-contained apartments with a living/dining area and a functional kitchen with practical equipment including cooking facilities, cutlery and crockery and an ironing board and iron. Day-to-day necessities are available from reception. They are aimed at leisure and business travellers, whose average stay is 50% longer than a guest staying in a traditional hotel.

Roomzzz offers five penthouse suites with generous balconies and panoramic views, 14 large and 29 standard open-plan suites. Sixteen are interconnecting and three are suitable for disabled guests.

Cheshire West and Cheshire West and Chester Council leader Mike Jones said Roomzzz was ‘a huge improvement’ and exactly the sort of innovative, high quality scheme the council encouraged.

He said: “Chester has a huge and rising hotel occupancy compared to other areas of the country, and Roomzzz fulfilled a clear need.”

Chief executive of Marketing Cheshire Katrina Michel said: “Hotel occupancy in Chester has been rising steadily over the past 18 months and we are now often achieving 80%+ but one thing lacking has been a central aparthotel. Roomzzz is a fantastic addition in a great location. I think it will be really popular.”
