If you love designer fashion but detest the price tags there's no need to throw a supermodel-like strop.
These days if you don't have access to catwalk exclusives it's easy to create designer-inspired looks with high street pieces and some savvy styling.
"You can pick up designer looks without breaking the bank," says Mark Heyes, fashion frontman of GMTV and author of new book, Get The Look, which offers tips on putting together designer-inspired outfits.
"It's all about styling them up to give you not only a designer look, but your own signature style."
Do your fashion homework and you may even be able to pick up exact replicas that give the catwalk version a run(way) for their money.
Mark explains: "In recent years duplicating a look has become even easier, as styles permeate speedily down the catwalk to appear as mass-produced garments in chain stores."
So choose your favourite designer and steal some affordable catwalk style.
Chanel - French classic
If Coco Chanel is your fashion icon, work some Parisian chic with a monochromatic colour palette.
"There are three colours that sum up the French classic style," Mark says. "The combination of black, cream and gold oozes expensive simplicity and is super-easy to replicate."
Invest in a classic shift dress and matching Chanel-style jacket for a seriously sleek ensemble.
"Attention to detail is key for this look: a darker edge on the collar and cuffs of the jacket screams Chanel style."
Look for: Cropped tweed jacket, multi-row pearl necklace, quilted bag, two-tone monochrome heels.
Dolce & Gabbana - Superbly sexy
Grab your control undies, the essence of Dolce & Gabbana is body-conscious Italian glamour.
Think corset-style dresses, animal prints and a hint of lace underwear.
"You need to bite the bullet on this one and work with your curves rather than against them," Mark advises.
"Dolce & Gabbana is famed for its beautiful corsetry but styles have changed from the traditional corset that we all knew and loved.
"Try and avoid the boned, laced-up Elizabethan-esque numbers and go for shaped cups and simple lines instead."
Look for: Corset-style dress, lace bolero, leopard print heels, snakeskin belt.
Versace - Bright and bold
Stay out of the fashion shade in Versace's statement-making colour explosion.
Red carpet regulars love the undeniably glamorous appeal of Versace's bold and bright gowns in sexy cuts.
"Versace was a pioneer in the use of bold colour and had us loudly and proudly wearing cobalt blues, tangerine oranges and super-bright yellows," Mark says.
Summer is the ideal time to experiment with brights and have some fun with colour - but the look requires some courage.
"Introduce some colour blocking," Mark suggests. "For example, pick a pair of eye-popping purple shoes, they'll look amazing clashed with an acid yellow dress."
Look for: Bright cocktail dress, metallic bag, oversized sunglasses.
Matthew Williamson - Global boho
Those with a well-stamped passport will love embracing Matthew Williamson's boho style - but think jet set, not backpacking.
"An important part of the Williamson concept is luxury and all his designs have a lust-worthy Ibiza feel - the fabulous side with all the yachts!" Mark adds.
"The combination of a maxi dress and waistcoat is a boho fashion marriage made in heaven.
"Key symbols include oversized peacock feathers, pretty floral designs and beautiful butterfly prints."
Look for: Maxi dress, gladiator sandals, bangles, ethnic necklace.
Ralph Lauren - American classic
A fan of the Glee and Gossip Girl style? Look to Ralph Lauren's Americana vibe with a nod to the perfectly preppy.
Mark says: "Lauren is known around the globe for that all-American, clean-cut look and his brilliance in mixing smart and casual pieces together."
The look is school prefect with a super-cool edge and the key staple is a good pair of jeans, according to Mark.
"The darker the colour, the more flattering the look. A skinny jean will undoubtedly give your look a more youthful edge."
Add crisp striped shirt and college-style blazer to the mix and you'll be top of the class.
Look for: Dark jeans, preppy blazer, striped shirt, boat shoes.
