My love affair with lipstick continues, and MAC’s range of super hydrating lipsticks has only added fuel to my addiction’s colourful fire. From bright oranges, pretty pinks, and deep reds, MAC has a shade and a formula to suit everyone.
For me, nude tones are a no-go because they make me look washed out and poorly (like I need to be put next to a blazing hot fire with a warm cup of tea). As much as I’d love to dazzle like a Kardashian with smokey eyes and a pale nude lip, it just wouldn’t look quite the same on me.
Matte formulas are another no-go too. I have pretty dry skin and my lips are no exception – they need to be smothered in moisture on a daily basis. So, to brighten up my English rose complexion and keep my pout pretty and plump, I need something that provides both colour and moisture. Enter the lustrous lippies from MAC.
These are amazing. I tried one shade of lipstick from three different MAC formulas and I haven’t been disappointed. First up is the shade ‘Full Speed’ from MAC’s ‘Sheen Supreme’ line. This is an exotic orange colour that is strongly pigmented but also provides a moisturising, light shine.
Imagine a matte lipstick and a shiny lipgloss had babies – this is what they’d look like; a great colour, with a sheeny, moisturising texture.
Next up, we have the shade ‘Craving’ from the MAC ‘Amplified Creme’ lipstick line. This is perhaps my favourite shade because it’s the most wearable. It looks quite dark in its packaging, but I just apply more or less depending on how strong a colour I’m going for. Craving is a really natural toned lipstick and is perfectly suitable for the office or for a night out if you team it with a smokey eye. This is my favourite lipstick of the moment.
Finally, MAC’s ‘Cremesheen Lipstick’ in shade ‘Speed Dial’ is the lightest I can really go without looking like I’m poorly. It’s also the most matte I would go as it doesn’t provide much in the way of hydration - certainly not as much sheen and moisture as the ‘Sheen Supreme’ and the ‘Amplified Creme’. It’s not to be under-estimated though; the light pastel pink hue is girly and glamorous without being overpowering. You could definitely wear this on a ‘natural makeup’ day without looking overdone.
These lipsticks are supposed to last for three to five hours, but I’d say they last more towards the three hour mark. They're all £13.50 so they’re not the cheapest on the market, but I definitely think they’re worth it! If you love MAC lipstick, let me know which your favourite shade is and which formula you like the best.
