There are reports of congestion affecting commuters using the M56 this evening (Thursday, May 19) following an accident.
The Chester -bound carriageway was partially blocked with 'very slow traffic' due to a collision at J12 A557 (Runcorn), with congestion back to J11 A56 (Preston Brook).
BBC Travel earlier described the incident, which was reported about 6.20pm, as 'severe'.
The motorway was cleared at 6.40pm and traffic is now easing.
