In the 1960s there was a fire and the buildings were demolished, later to be replaced by the Salmon Leap flats1 of 4James Dandy & Son at Chester Market in the 1950s. Pictured here is James Dandy. The firm's original works were in Victoria Road, later moving to George St and then to Newry Park. The firm was at the forefront of technical development in the switchgear industry. The works closed in the late 60s but production continued in Bedford3 of 4Chester Telephone Exchange in the 1950s.
