This moving video shows terminally ill Ellesmere Port bride Claire Fowler as she prepares for her wedding.
Claire has incurable cancer but she didn’t let that dampen the mood as she got ready to wed her childhood sweetheart.
Generous friends and neighbours of the 26-year-old rallied around to raise the £11,000 she needed to celebrate her dream wedding which took place at the Doubletree Hilton in Chester on Friday. May 1.
Claire, who is mum to four-year-old Halle, needed the money so she could bring forward her wedding and take her and her husband Chris Carlin, who she first met when she was 13, to Disneyland before her treatment starts.
Claire praised the kindness of her neighbours and said: “Ellesmere Port really is incredible when it needs to be and I am so grateful that people have been so generous and understanding.”
'I hope they can prevent the disease from spreading'
She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and underwent two courses of chemotherapy as well as surgery to remove the tumour and part of her pelvis. But after two years of remission her osteosarcoma had returned.
Claire said: “I have been told by the spinal specialist that the tumour cannot be fully removed due to the fact that it is touching other important parts of the body.
“If the cancer has not spread anywhere else, he hopes to remove the majority of the tumour to prolong my life and the oncologists are still to decide what treatment is best.
“What I do know is that my cancer is now incurable. I hope they can prevent the disease from spreading yet so I can have longer with my beautiful daughter.”
Cath Prescott-Develing, of CPD Film, said she felt 'absolutely honoured and privileged' to record their special day.
She added: "It is my chance to give something back to the community when so many people have helped my business become a success. "Capturing life-long memories for friends and family of Claire & Chris is an incredible thing to be able to do."
