Children at Parklands Community Primary School in Little Sutton, held a Diversity Day, to celebrate the different cultures and backgrounds at the school.

The day started with an engaging assembly supervised by staff from local arts company Chalice Media. The assembly involved a variety of activities showing how everyone is unique but has special talents and skills that make the school a friendly, lively and diverse community.

Children then worked on creating their own pages for a school book which is to be printed in conjunction with Chalice Media.

Mrs Hughes, assistant headteacher said: "Pupils and staff are very excited about our school book. We are looking forward to seeing the finished book and delighted that every child in our school family will become a published author."

Mrs Flanders, headteacher added: "Pupils at Parklands are taught to celebrate the diversity of the world around them. This is a special day to enable children to consider the special talents and skills which make them unique and valuable within our school family."

Laura Harris, director of Chalice Media said: “The children responded so positively to the assembly and we are delighted to work alongside Parklands School to support this project.”

Children are now finalising art work for a whole school display which every child, from nursery upwards, will have contributed to.
