High school students have again been getting into the Christmas spirit to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Students from across all year groups at Ellesmere Port Catholic High on Capenhurst Lane, Whitby contributed to the school’s effort to support the Operation Christmas Child appeal, the world’s largest Christmas children’s project.

The appeal involves sending wrapped shoeboxes full of Christmas goodies to areas of the world where children may not otherwise receive any gifts this festive season.

Students and staff at the high school managed to arrange for the collection of 72 boxes in an attempt to reflect the charitable message that is at the heart of the Christmas story.

Students have also been busy preparing Christmas hampers.

These will be distributed by the St Vincent de Paul charity (SVP) to those around the town who would benefit from the students’ efforts at this time of year.
