A black motorcycle could hold the key to solving a supermarket robbery in Ellesmere Port .

A police investigation was launched after hammer-wielding robbers stormed Farmfoods on York Road just before 4pm on August 2, threatening two men in the shop and making off on a motorcycle after stealing money from the safe.

The offenders were wearing full motorcycle clothing and their faces were obscured by helmets.

Having been searching for information on a motorcycle stolen from an address in Dale Gardens in Stanney in March 2014, police have now recovered the black Suzuki 124 from a hedgerow at the rear of Chirk Gardens and believe it to be the one used by offenders during the Farmfoods robbery.

Anyone with information regarding any sightings of the bike on Sunday, August 2, in Ellesmere Port or anyone acting suspiciously near Chirk Gardens wearing motorcycle clothing, are asked to contact DS Rob Grantham on 01606 363031, quoting incident number 643 of August 2.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
