A sheltered housing scheme celebrated its silver jubilee.

Abbeyfield Ellesmere Port Society in Oak Grove, Whitby held a celebratory lunch to mark the occasion.

The event was attended by residents, Ellesmere Port mayor Bob Crompton and members of both the original committee and the current executive committee.

The festivities continued later with a thanksgiving service at St Lawrence’s Church, Stoak followed by a high tea at Abbeyfield House with the Rev Gordon Welch, executive committee members, residents and their families.

Abbeyfield opened in the town in 1989.

The society says it has continued to provide exceptional sheltered housing accommodation for the elderly where residents enjoy care, comfort and companionship in safe surroundings.
