A world-renowned trials biker has been riding high through a Cheshire stately home.

Dougie Lampkin MBE, with 12 world titles to his name, rides down the stairs of Cholmondeley Castle before touring the grounds in advance of this year’s Pageant of Power which takes place on the weekend (June 13 and 14).

Ahead of his debut at the event, Red Bull UK’s longest serving athlete also showcased his nail-biting bike control at the media launch at Media City piazza in Manchester where there was a range of extreme machinery from 80s poster cars and American muscle cars to Lotus icons and track stars.

Vehicles at the annual event for petrol heads include: 2015 Lotus Evora GTE, BMW i8, BAC Mono, 1974 Cologne Capri, 2002 V8 Star, 2003 Opel Astra DTM, 1969 Lamborghini Miura S ‘Jota’ and a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.

Dougie said: “It was a great experience to ride around the iconic Media City piazza and put myself to the test in a different setting. It served as a great warm up before I take to the diverse Cholmondeley grounds on the June 13 and 14.”

James Hall, event director, added: “Dougie’s showcase really put the piazza in a different light and proved popular with passers-by of all ages. We look forward to seeing this great world-champion put his skills to the test again next week.”

The eighth staging of CPOP will celebrate ‘power’ on land, air and water and will honour Lotus on Friday, American Muscle cars on Saturday and Eighties supercars on Sunday.

In addition, the world’s only flying Vulcan will be taking to the skies above Cholmondeley for its last ever Cheshire flight, with the Red Bull Matadors entertaining the crowd with an aerobatic display.
