Pupils from local theatre school, Theatretrain are taking to the stage at The Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl this week.

The production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ is currently touring the UK but makes a stop in Rhyl this week. The lucky youngsters from Chester, Wrexham and Mold will be joining Joe McElderry who is playing the role of Joseph, and Lucy Kay as the Narrator for ten performances throughout the week.

McElderry rose to fame after winning The X Factor and his since also won TVs ‘The Jump’ and ‘Pop Star to Opera Star’. Lucy Kay came second in Britain’s Got Talent last year. This is the second time that Theatretrain have supported the ‘Joseph...’ tour. They also appeared with the Bill Kenwright Ltd show at Theatr Clwyd eighteen months ago.

Joe McElderry as Joseph

It’s a busy time for Theatretrain as they are also returning to their regular weekend classes this week for the beginning of the new term. The group are welcoming younger pupils to their classes at Queens Park High School in Chester and Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in Wrexham with their Tinies and Minis classes for 3-5 year olds.

As soon as the busy week of ‘Joseph...’ performances is over the pupils will continue to work on the many productions that they have planned for the rest of this year. These include ‘Return To The Forbidden Planet’ in June and another trip to The Royal Albert Hall in London in September. New pupils joining the group now will be eligible to perform in these productions.
