Boxercise, yoga and pilates are some of the low-cost fitness sessions which are on offer to residents in Blacon as part of a programme to get people energised.

Sanctuary Housing, Avenue Services and Active Cheshire have teamed up to provide sports and fitness activities as part of the exciting Energise Blacon programme.

Yoga sessions are held on Tuesdays from 9.30-10.30am, boxercise is from 6.30- 7.30pm on Wednesdays and pilates runs from 11am to noon on Thursdays, at the dance studio in Parade Enterprise Centre. The yoga and pilates cost £2.50 per session and boxercise £3.

Energise Blacon, now entering its second year, forms part of Sanctuary’s national Love Sport programme, in partnership with Sport England.

Sanctuary’s commitment to the five-year programme, which aims to engage more than 2,250 residents around the country in activities and see the benefits of regular exercise, has been match-funded by Sport England through National Lottery investment.

Love Sport project coordinator Cherry Shagan said: “These are the start of a wide range of exercise activities which will be on offer over the next six months in Blacon. All abilities are welcome and we would like to see as many Blacon residents as possible getting energised.

“Not only will the programme promote improved health and wellbeing, we hope it will encourage residents to engage with others in the local community and develop skills which will be useful in the future.”
