A tuneful student from Rudheath helped wow Britain’s Got Talent judges with his musical ensemble’s flash mob audition.

Now 21-year-old Brett Sinclair faces an anxious wait to see if he and his fellow members of the Collaborative Orchestra and Singers make it through to the live semi-finals during the reveal episode on Saturday night (May 21).

The instrumentalists and vocalists, who are from all walks of life, received a standing ovation following their performance of Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen, receiving the nod from all four judges.

Hard to impress Simon Cowell was so impressed he said it was his ‘easiest yes’ of the day.

Brett, a musical theatre student at the London College of Music, has been part of the act as a tenor for the past few months.

He said: “I’m so happy to be a part of the Collaborative Orchestra – the people I work with are insanely talented.

“I would love for us to win and perform for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show, that would just be the most amazing thing.”

Pianist Nicholas Bryant initially appeared on stage alone but Simon, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon were shocked when more and more musicians rose from the audience to join in, a la that magical wedding scene in Love Actually.

A video of the audition on the official Britain’s Got Talent YouTube has racked up more than six million views.

'Dream come true'

Their performance even earned a mention on Queen guitarist Bryan May’s Facebook page, which Brett – who hopes to work on Broadway or the West End one day – said was a ‘dream come true’.

He added: “It’s all been such a crazy experience so far. Surreal, but amazing.”

Brett isn’t the only local winning praise on this year’s series of the talent show – Beau Dermott, a pupil at The Hammond School, blew the judges away with her rendition of Wicked hit Defying Gravity.
