Many of them, together with their families, will stay in Chester after the event and use the cafes and shops which is obviously good for local businesses.

This festive, family Santa Dash is organised by two charities, the Countess of Chester Hospital who are raising funds for the Babygrow Appeal and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd who will use their share of the proceeds to support REFLECT – their Child Bereavement Service.

The event starts at 10am from the University of Chester Riverside Campus, Castle Drive and finishes along Bridge Street.

More than 1,500 Santas will be taking part. Visit www.chestersantadash.com for more information.
