Meet the Hyperceptor. Is this the future of the police road fleet?

This fearsome-looking BMW i8 has been decked out in yellow and blue to strike fear into wannabe joyriders.

But do not expect it to flash by you sirens blaring on the M56 anytime soon. The concept car just goes on tour to promote safe driving.

Cheshire Police will be showing off the supercar in all its glory at CarFest North at Bolesworth Castle this weekend.

As well as being beautifully designed, the i8 is actually a plug-in hybrid electric model and was Top Gear magazine’s Car of the Year in 2014.

It can go from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph.

The force have a stand at the motoring festival alongside Highways England.

Road safety officer Andy Taylor said: “CarFest provides an excellent opportunity for us to engage with motorists and promote safer, more responsible driving.

“We always receive positive feedback from the public when attending events such as this and encourage anyone attending the festival to come over and speak to us.”

Cheshire Police’s stand will feature a selection of vehicles, not just the Hyperceptor, so be sure to take a look.

CarFest, a three-day celebration of motoring which raises money for BBC Children in Need, features a range of track action, modern and classic car showcases as well as live music from the likes of Will Young, Bryan Adams and The Coors.
