Chester’s Grosvenor Shopping Centre is inviting shoppers to put their tracking skills to the test to raise funds for the Countess of Chester Hospital's Babygrow Appeal.

On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March kids and grown-ups alike can take part in a teddy bear hunt, for the chance to win a Bulid-a-Bear teddy, by making a small donation to the appeal.

Shoppers can ‘hunt’ ten cuddly toy bears, which will be hidden throughout the shopping centre – three of which will be given away as prizes.

‘Big Bears’ in centre will be on hand to receive entries and offers hints and tips for how to find the hidden bears.

Centre manager Julie Webbsaid: “We wanted to do something that’s a bit of fun for all the family to launch our support for the Babygrow Appeal and raise money. With the weather being so changeable at this time of year, we thought an indoor treasure hunt would be a great way for people to get involved.”

The event launches the shopping centre’s activity for a yearlong campaign to help raise £15,000 for the Chester Countess Babygrow Appeal.

The Babygrow Appeal aims to raise £3 million for a new neonatal unit at the hospital, which will double the size of the current facility providing patients and their families with a the space and privacy needed.

Julie added: “The Babygrow Appeal is such as noble cause, and you just never know if or when you or someone you know and love might need the support of the neo-natal unit, so we’ve chosen it as our charity of the year. We hope everyone digs deep and donates what they can afford to help raise funds for the appeal!”

Lesley Woodhead, Corporate and Events Fundraising Manager, said: “We are delighted that the Babygrow Appeal has the great support and enthusiasm of the Grosvenor Shopping Centre and are looking forward to some great events - the bear hunt is a first for the Babygrow Appeal!"
