Racegoers descended on the Roodee on the weekend to watch runners and riders on the city course and help charities.

The 12,500 crowd on Friday were on enthusiastic form and course charity of the evening, Save the Family, were given generous donations as racegoers made they way home after a successful evening.

On Saturday, the return of the popular Corbettsports City Plate Day brought a crowd of 25,255 who enjoyed a full card of seven races.

Rain threatened raceday early on, but the clouds parted just in time for gates opening .

Once again, racegoers gave generously to the British Red Cross as they departed.

Chester Races, Ladies and Gents Evening, Friday, July 8

Fixtures are coming thick and fast in Chester’s racing calendar, with the next just under two weeks away.

The next fixture at Chester Racecouse is The Stella Artois Summer Festival on Saturday, July 23 and gates open at 11.30am.

Children go free and there are free activities to keep the youngsters amused on the Open Course.
