Chester’s Park & Ride service will be extended for more than two hours every Thursday evening to support the city’s Head Out Not Home campaign.

The service, which runs from designated car parks at Chester Zoo, Wrexham Road, Boughton Heath and Sealand Road, usually finishes at 7pm, but a new half hourly service will now run on all routes until 9.15pm every Thursday until September 1.

BID Manager at CH1ChesterBID Carl Critchlow said: “We’re really pleased that Cheshire West and Chester Council have chosen to support our Head Out Not Home campaign this summer. Their support and the extended Park & Ride timetable will allow us to offer visitors a range of parking options and make it easy for them to get into the city to experience everything it has to offer.

“We hope to encourage as many people as possible into Chester city centre on Thursday evenings throughout the summer to indulge in some late night shopping, have food with family and friends and enjoy the packed programme of music, movies, outdoor theatre taking place.”

The campaign aims to bridge the gap between the city’s daytime and evening economies. Every Thursday until September, more than 40 city centre retailers are keeping their doors open until 8pm for late night shopping, and a range of music and street entertainment will be taking place.

Full details of the events and participating stores can be found online at www.ExperienceChester.co.uk .

Cheshire West and Chester Council launched an improved cross-city Park & Ride service just last month in partnership with Stagecoach, including a greater choice of stops for customers. A fleet of 12 new buses also boast climate control; free 4G wi-fi and USB charging; premium quality seats and the latest enviro clean engine technology.

During the extended Thursday service buses on all routes will depart the city centre at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour between 7.15pm and 9.15pm.
