The 2015 MBNA Chester Marathon and Metric Marathon start and finish at Chester Racecourse - with the full marathon starting at 9am and the metric version at 10am. Both races will be held on closed roads until 3pm.

Motorists need to be aware of road closures on the race route:

After leaving Chester Racecourse, runners will pass through Chester City Centre, heading out through Eccleston and Pulford before entering Wales at Rossett. The route carries on through Holt before returning to England at Farndon and passing through Churton, Aldford and Huntington. It returns to Chester city at Boughton, entering The Groves area and re-entering the Racecourse at the Little Roodee.

The Metric Marathon course will pass through Chester City Centre and then head out of Chester eastbound on the A51 and then south on Sandy Lane. Just north of Churton the runners turn and run north to return to Chester. See the map.

Spectator Information:

As the course is wholly within closed roads it means that some parts of the course will be difficult to access by spectators who will have to park in a convenient and safe place and walk to the course.

The recommended spectator locations are:

The start at Chester Racecourse at 9am. Vehicle access is only available until 8am, the car park then closes at 8am and will reopen about 10.30am.

City centre from 9am to 9.35am.

Holt and Farndon from 10.20am to 1pm.

The Groves - 11am to 3pm.

The finish at Chester Racecourse - 11.20am to 3pm.
