Usain Boat will be hoping for fine weather on Sunday for the 12th annual Chester Charity Dragon Boat Festival on the River Dee.

The aptly named entry might be in with a chance of winning, up against teams called The Sinking Ducks and Eni Way Up.

This year’s event, organised by Race the Dragon, will raise cash for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and Wirral Hospice St John’s.

Other charities that will benefit include Alder Hey Children’s Charity, the National Autistic Society, Zoe’s Place and Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Last year more than £23,000 was raised for local and regional charities.

Teams include Ellis Williams Architects, the Eaton Estate Office, moneysupermarket.com and Redrow Homes NW.

The festival will be held at Sandy Lane with an opening ceremony at 10am.

Best qualifiers in individual races will feature in the grand final just before 4pm, followed by an award ceremony where Deputy Lord Mayor of Chester Razia Daniels will present prizes.
