A new exhibition focusing on wounded British soldiers in the Great War is now open at the Cheshire Military Museum in Chester.

‘From Battlefield to Blighty, Bringing the Casualties Back Home’ The exhibition focuses on the casualties of the Great War, looking at the causes of their injuries, where they would receive treatment and who would look after them.

It follows the soldiers from treatment on the battlefields to the auxiliary hospital’s back at home in Britain.

The exhibition includes photographs from the front line and objects associated with local nurses and their patients.

Museum officer Caroline Chamberlain said: “We are delighted to be able to put on an exhibition that shows this important aspect of the Great War. The exhibition allows the visitor to follow the story of the 2,272,998 wounded British soldiers and those that cared for them.”

The exhibition runs until January 2016, normal admission charges apply.

The Cheshire Military Museum is open Thursday-Tuesday 10am – 5pm (last entry 4pm).
