Chester throbbed to the sound of Asian beats on Saturday as the city celebrated Diwali.

The Hindu Festival of Light saw dancers make their way from the Town Hall Square to Northgate Street.

There was a fantastic atmosphere as Chester dignitaries joined the Hindu community in the party.

Pictures from David Sejrup show the parade in full flow with dancers strutting their moves as Saturday shoppers watch on.

Following the parade a series of Indian workshops and food tasting sessions were held at the Unity Centre in Cuppin Street.

The event is celebrated each year in Chester by the Sanjhi Indian Association with the help of Cheshire West and Chester Council and a Big Lottery Fund grant.
