1. Chester Pride

Chester Pride march through the city centre starts at noon on Saturday followed by entertainment on the M&S Bank main stage in Castle Square from 1-7pm. Music will be provided by the likes of Stooshe, dance duo Booty Luv, Saffron - lead singer of 90s Brit Pop band Republica , 90s singer and Eurovision entrant Nikki French and 80s pop star Hazell Dean.

2. Beeston Castle

Beeston Castle’s Autumn Fair from 10.30am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Falconry displays, music, foraging, local craftsmen, wildlife groups, and even a dog show will be among the outdoor entertainments on offer. The two day event offers families the chance to immerse themselves in all things autumnal, enjoying a traditional autumnal mummer’s play, going foraging with Cheshire-based forager James Wood, taking wildlife tours with the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and learning about traditional crafts with the Cheshire Guild of Wood turners. 3. Organ marathon

In the Wesley Church Centre, St John Street, Brian Heald performs a five hour organ marathon from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday to mark his 40th anniversary as Wesley Church’s resident organist. Donations in aid of Wesley’s Regeneration Project.

9. Selfie Fashion

Selfie Fashion is coming to the Coliseum Shopping Park this Saturday (October 1)

Selfie Fashion Event at the Coliseum Shopping Park in Ellesmere Port from 11am-4pm on Saturday. Event will showcase the key fashion trends for autumn 2016 brought to life with a series of dance shows, a live stylist and prize-winning selfie stations. Pop-up flash mob fashion/dance shows taking place all day, throughout the shopping park, as part of a national tour. Dancers featured in fashion shows have worked with Katy Perry and Beyonce.

10. Uniting Church

The next community coffee morning at the Uniting Church in Garden Lane will be supporting Chester Aid to The Homeless once again. The event will run from 10.30am-noon on Saturday. Admission is £2 to include Fairtrade coffee or tea and cake or scone. There will be a raffle. All proceeds from the coffee morning will be donated to the charity.

11. Cheese and wine

Chester Co-op Local Forum are holding a cheese and wine tasting evening at Hoole Community Centre on Saturday. The event is being hosted by Gyles Walker, Wine and Fortified Wine Buyer for the Co-op. All money from the event is being donated to local charity SPACE. Tickets cost £20 for a table of four, or an individual ticket (to make/join a table of 4) is £5 and are available form Co-op stores in Hoole (Walker Street and Faulkner Street), Kingsway and Westminster Park.

13. Coffee morning

Vicars Cross United Reformed Church

Vicars Cross URC are holding their monthly coffee morning from 10.30am to noon on Saturday, all proceeds to go to the Macmillan cancer charity. There will be cakes for sale and a raffle will be held with the draw taking place before the close at noon.

14. Chester Marathon

The MBNA Chester Marathon starts at 9am on Sunday. With a spectacular start and finish at Chester Racecourse, the route passes all Chester's iconic landmarks then heads out into the Cheshire and North Wales countryside before returning along the banks of the River Dee.

15. So Far So Good

Paul Horton exhibition coming to Castle Galleries in Chester

Final day of exhibition by Paul Horton entitled So Far, So Good - The Farewell Tour at Castle Galleries in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre in Chester on Sunday. The exhibition will include a selection of his most popular works to date. The artist has also produced five new signed limited editions and two boutique pieces especially for the display, which will be Paul’s last collaboration with the UK’s leading fine art publishers, Washington Green.

Older people from the local community are invited to Upton Dene Residential and Nursing Home in Caldecott Close in Chester, where the team and residents will host a 1960s inspired event from 2-4pm. Silver Sunday is a national day celebrating older people, where local communities and organisations host free events to help combat loneliness and reduce isolation.
