Lovers of Roald Dahl will find just what they want at Tarvin Community Centre next month.

Following their recent sell-out staging of the West Yorkshire Playhouse production of Beryl, the centre now presents Our Teacher’s a Troll by the writer of the West End hit musical Matilda, Dennis Kelly.

Suitable for children aged six and above, it has dark humour, clever sound effects and worms.

The performance, by Paines Plough and Half Moon Theatre, is through the sponsorship of Cheshire Rural Touring Arts, an organisation funded to bring professional theatre to rural venues.

Sue Hardacre for Tarvin Community Centre said: “We are delighted to be part of this great organisation and especially pleased to be able to offer not one, but two first class productions this autumn.

“We have a large hall and stage and some technical facilities that enable us to put on more complex productions.

“Our Teacher’s a Troll will also be at the Lowry, as was Beryl, and we take great pride in seeing our local community centre listed alongside such a prestigious theatre.”

Tarvin Community Centre is a lively and ambitious village institution offering a wide range of activities for all ages as well as offering high quality professional and amateur theatre, films and music. It has plans to expand and is currently waiting to see if a grant application to create a new lounge area is approved.

Our Teacher’s a Troll - which is suitable for children aged 6-7+ - is on Friday, November 6 at 6.30pm. Tickets are £8 adults and £6 children under 14. They are available from Cheshire Rural Touring Arts or from 01829 741962 or from Tarvin Post Office.
