Consider yourself invited to go and enjoy Kingsley Players’ latest musical, Oliver!

But you will have to be quick as tickets are selling fast for the shows at Kingsley Community Centre from January 27-30.

As the group celebrates the start of its 40th anniversary season, a cast of 52 will perform Lionel Bart’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’s popular tale.

Director Lynn Pegler said Oliver! was one of her favourite musicals.

She said: “It has everything; a gripping story, amazing characters and some of the best songs in musical theatre. It is a classic in every sense of the word.

“I am very lucky to be working with a fabulous cast who are bringing Victorian London to life.

“We promise you a very special production this January as the Kingsley Players embark on the group’s 40th anniversary season.”

Matthew Betteridge will star as the title character who runs away from the workhouse before being taken in by a group of pickpockets.

Phil Murray features as villain Bill Sykes, with Colin Smith as Mr Bumble and Neil Silcock as Fagin.

Catrin Jones, Lorna McAvoy and Shara Blanchard feature as the Artful Dodger, Nancy and Bet.

The film version of Oliver! won six Academy Awards, including Best Score, with famous songs including ‘Food Glorious Food’ and ‘Consider Yourself’.

There will be five shows in total, one each night with an added matinee performance on Saturday (January 30).

Tickets are £7-8, with £5 concessions available for the Wednesday, Thursday and matinee productions and are available up until midday on the performance date.
