A Shakespeare classic is coming to Frodsham next month.

Frodsham Players are preparing to unveil their open-air presentation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The group will be performing the comedy, which was of course written by William Shakespeare, at St Laurence Church from July 14-17.

Michael Mills is in the director’s seat for the show which follows three intertwined sub-plots about love.

First is the wedding of Theseus and Hyppolyta. There are also the turbulent lovers Demetrius, Hermia, Lysander, Helena and the mechanicals, who perform a play within a play.

Added to this are the tormenting fairies Oberon and Titania, who perform mayhem by charming various characters to fall in love with each other.

This will all be done in the grounds of the church, but plans are in place to take the performance inside should the weather fail.

If it stays sunny the players are encouraging patrons to bring a picnic and a blanket.

Tickets cost £5 and are on sale from the Frodsham Players Box Office on 07754 455809, frodshamplayers.com and Dandelion, Church Street, Frodsham.
