Bullets and Daffodils, the West End production based on the life of First World War poet Wilfred Owen, is coming to Chester next week.

Written by Birkenhead songwriter Dean Johnson, the show is a passionate tribute to Wilfred Owen.

A unique element to the drama’s script is world exclusive extracts from newly discovered Owen family letters, kept secret until now.

They shed new light on the Wilfred Owen myth and overturn almost a century of misconception of his mother Susan.

People may be unaware that Cheshire holds a very special place in the lives of the two greatest war poets of all time. Wilfred Owen wrote his first ever poem on a holiday in Broxton, while Owen's hero and mentor Siegfried Sassoon often visited his family relatives at Cholmondeley Castle.

The show’s writer Dean Johnson will perform a special one-man acoustic version of the acclaimed production next week.

Mark Reed (son of the late Oliver Reed) will feature as the 'voice' of Siegfried Sassoon in a recreation of a rare and controversial radio broadcast where Owen's mentor confesses a slight disbelief at Wilfred's shellshock.

The show, at the Ring O Bells in Christleton on Friday, October 25, is suitable for all aged 12+ and will start at 7.30pm. Admission free.
