One of Britain’s best-loved detectives is live on-stage in a new case this August with Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Murders at Crewe Lyceum Theatre from Monday, August 3–Wednesday, August 5.

Starring Andrew Paul (The Bill, Where the Heart Is, Coronation Street), Neil Roberts (Holby City), Kim Taylforth (London’s Burning, Bad Girls), George Telfer (Emmerdale) and Samuel Clemens as Sherlock Holmes, this new production by Talking Scarlet brings the famous detective duo of Holmes and Watson to life in a shocking case.

In Victorian Whitechapel, the grisly serial killings of prostitutes and vulnerable women are the talk of the town. Dubbed the work of Jack the Ripper by the popular press, yet another shriek is heard from deep within the smog-ridden slums. Sherlock Holmes and Dr John H Watson are drawn into one of the darkest plots yet.

Freemasons, conspiracies and plots abound to shake the very foundations of England. And for Holmes, a uniquely personal element awaits in this new and terrifying case.

Lyceum marketing manager Gemma Whalley said: “Audiences cannot get enough of Sherlock Holmes, on the stage and the screen.

“In this new case, the Lyceum Theatre brings another opportunity to experience the wit and willpower of the famous detective in the intimate setting of Crewe’s dramatic auditorium.

“Sherlock Holmes is a must-see thriller for fans of drama and detectives this summer.”

Andrew Paul is a familiar TV face, best known for playing PC Dave Quinnan in The Bill from 1987–2002 and Billy Boothe in Where the Heart Is from 2003-2006. Most recently Andrew played the role of Inspector Salinger in Dracula (NBC/Sky). He is currently filming Coronation Street.

Neil Roberts has appeared in leading roles in numerous plays, musicals, television programmes and films in Britain and in America, including the West End cast of Mamma Mia!, and TV appearances on Coronation Street and Disney’s Life Bites, as well as New Tricks, Doctors and Holby City.

Kim Taylforth made her professional debut in the BBC comedy series Steptoe & Son at the age of 15. Kim is perhaps best known for her other TV roles which include London’s Burning (ITV), playing Nancy, the mother of fire-fighter Billy Rae, for four series, Bad Girls (Shed Production), where she played Marilyn Fenner, Brookside in which she played Pauline Robinson and a regular in the Channel 5 soap Family Affairs, playing Sharon Ingram.
