After their successful first year based at the University of Chester’s Kingsway Buildings, Minerva Youth Theatre is gearing up to start the new academic year.

The group will be opening its doors to new members at their first session back on Wednesday, September 11, from 7-9pm at the Kingsway Buildings in Newton.

The youth theatre is open to any young person between the ages of 11 and 18 and offers the opportunity for young people to get involved in many different styles of performance from traditional to contemporary.

Last year Minerva Youth Theatre produced two shows, the highly successful adaptation of Greek text Antigone in March and a showcase of devised work in July as well as contributing to the final event of Wirral to West Africa, a project undertaken in partnership with River Niger Arts and Hilbre High School in West Kirby, Wirral.

Minerva Youth Theatre is the only group in the area to offer Arts Award, the nationally recognised qualification in the arts. This year the group achieved seven bronze awards and five silvers and this year will be offering a gold award for the first time.
